Professional Training Program – good practice example

Object of the training: Expansion of knowledge for agricultural entrepreneurs in the field of strategy development, economic financial management, development of human resources and agricultural trading.

Training attainment: EJ Foundation Tapolca and the Pannon University Adult Education Institute, Keszthely within a consortium agreement headed by Centre National de Promotion Horticole (CNPH) de la MENITRE (FR) coordinator the NEW AGRI MANAGERNEAM : 2006-FR/06/B/P/PP-152556 EU Leonardo Project was attained.

Target group for the training: professional training for agricultural entrepreneurs

Applied training method: intensive, combined training with on-farm practice.

Duration of the training: 240 hours theory, 70 hours practical, totalling 310 hours.

Date of the course: 14th December 2007 – 29th January 2008.

Condition of joining the program: 2 years practical experience must be an individual entrepreneur or employed by an agricultural company.

Taking into account previously acquired knowledge: Practical experience gained during the management of own enterprise and certified practical experience was taken into consideration. Certification of practical experience was given by the leader of the practices following briefing on own activities. The practices can be considered in their entirety.

DETAILED PROGRAM OF THE TRAINING

I. MODULE: Strategic Planning

Objectives: to prepare participants of the training program for definition of company development objectives, for developing quality policy for the company, for evaluating the company environment, for managing the enterprise..

Topics: rudiments, mission, strategy, future vision, operative programs.

Quality policy. Enterprise environments. EU policies and programs for economic development.

II. MODULE: Economic and Financial Management

Objectives: training participants to prepare financial reports and balance sheet analysis, cash-flow calculations. Briefing on regulations referring to small and medium sized enterprises, opportunities offered by support systems and selection of support forms relevant to their own enterprise. 

Topics: preparation of business plan, banking relationships, stock market knowledge, analysis, cash-flow calculations, resource mapping, grant support.

III. MODULE: Human Resource Management

Objectives: preparing leaders of enterprises for employing labour and for development tasks

Topics: employment law, definition of job descriptions, labour recruitment know, receiving new colleagues, fitting in, planning tasks, motivation, incentives, inclusion of colleagues in decision making preparations and checks. Methods dealing with deficiencies in human resources. Distance working, family friendly workplace.

IV. MODULE:  Agricultural Trading

Objectives: During the training participants should be acquainted with the operation of the national and EU agricultural markets, should be able to develop price policies, should be familiarized with trading regulators, should have a basic knowledge of marketing and logistics, should be able to conduct business negotiations.

Topics: Common agricultural policy, national and EU agricultural regulation and support system, marketing knowledge, logistics knowledge, stock-market knowledge, ensuring the balance between market requirements and production, price definition, sales methods, food safety requirements, brands, preparing a trading plan, negotiation techniques.

V: MODULE: Company Practice

Objectives: to familiarise participants of the training program with good practices associated with the theoretical modules and to enable them to use these in their own enterprises.

Main aims of the practice: the preparation of a strategic plan for their own enterprise, analysis of the balance sheet for the previous year and definition of conclusions, and also preparation of training plan for those employed in their own enterprise. Preparation of trading plan for their own enterprise.
